Okay, so I'm out of order a little bit...forgot to add the post for thing #2....
I do consider myself a lifelong learner, and I did the 7 Habits many years ago with SBISD. I think my biggest challenges are having confidence in my ideas and abilities and the teach/mentor habit. In my mind, they go hand in hand. Until I'm confident with my own teaching, how can I feel comfortable sharing with others? I do a good job teaching children, but have a huge phobia when it comes to peers. My principal is helping me step out a little bit. I had a student teacher the second semester last year, and I've facilitated a couple of trainings on Singapore math. Loved the student teacher--I think I learned as much as she did--and I felt good about the math trainings after they were over. I must say, I had sweaty palms and shaking knees throughout the presentations.
On the flip side, I've always been eager to learn and implement new technology. I have learned so much using my ActivBoard this past year--it is an invaluable tool. I still have a long way to go, but love the things the board can do. Looking forward to the updates.
Rene - so glad you are doing this...think of many of the things that you have already done...trading cards, animotos...you will be amazed at how quickly you can do this. If you need help...give me a call. Think of ways we can use the 23 things in your classroom....we'll have a GREAT time next school year!
