Wow. Today, I really learned a lot. I had heard of RSS feeds, but was not familiar with them at all. I had trouble finding blogs that were relevant to my teaching. I was hoping to find a blog from another third grade teacher that I could look at, but the ones I found were very outdated or student-driven. Which is not to say that student driven is bad; it's just not what I as looking for.
I like the idea of having news sent to me instead of having to go track things down. I also like being able to group my feeds by topic. I'm still hunting for more feeds; this is rather addicting and time consuming.
Personally, I think this streamlined reading will save me a lot of time--I'll get updates automatically from the sites I would visit anyway. Professionally, I need to keep playing to figure out how I can use an RSS in my teaching.
I found a blog of a teacher who shares ideas about teaching math in small group. I don't know what grade she teaches but she does the same things I do in class and I teach 3rd grade. Her blog is "My teaching spirit" and mine is "Learners are cool."
